GROW AND GOE!

“You grow in your own way; everyone does.  That’s one reason each one of us is different and special” – Mr. Rogers

Eating from the Garden, the Orchard, the Earth…

Ok.  This is the real goal.  This is the good stuff.  You knew it was coming.

We need to be eating more fruits and vegetables.  LOTS more.

Mom was right.

But really, this is simple.  No recipes, no crazy new things to learn, just CUT THEM UP AND PUT THEM ON YOUR PLATE!

Did you know raw cruciferous vegetables like kale, cauliflower, cabbage and especially broccoli may offer a huge boost in lowering risk of cancer occurring or recurring?  Fruits like apples, bananas, lemons and especially berries may do the same!

But it’s ALL KINDS of food from the soil that helps!  Try a different type of potato, a purple carrot, a bundle of broccolini, something you’ve never tried before!  Try them with new seasonings, cut up some fruit and put it on your plate, EVERY plate, add a soup to the mix.  Order the veggie burger or the pasta primavera at the restaurant.  Figure out what vegetables you like most and order them, cook them, or eat them raw!  And do it every day…

If treatment has NOT made you underweight at this point, then TRY TO BUILD SOME PLATES WITH NO MEAT AT ALL, just fruits and vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts and seeds, things from the Garden, the Orchard, the Earth (whole foods plant based eating).  If it’s food that came from the soil, put it on your plate!

While you’re at it, why not grow some of your own food?  Even the least green-thumb-y person living in an apartment can grow a pot of rosemary in the windowsill!  TRUST ME!  Nothing feels better than growing your own lunch.

Get yourself into the garden and get the garden into yourself!

And SHARE.  Share your experiences, your recipes, your wisdom with others who might need it.  Grow and GOE!

Build houses and settle down; plant gardens and eat what they produce. – Jeremiah 29:5
